The following are a series of commercial projects in which Soil & Rock Consultants provided geotechnical input which typically included investigation, design, construction observation and final certification;

Metlife Care – Pinesong

Location:

Buildings K & N, 66 Avonleigh Road, Titirangi

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants were engaged to undertake a geotechnical site investigation for a slip. The scope of our report encompassed an assessment of the land stability in the area.

The principal objectives of the investigation were to develop an appropriate geotechnical model of the site so that recommendations with regard to land stability and slip remediation design could be made to support a Building Consent application to Council.

The Hellman Building

Location:

Landing Drive, Auckland Airport

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants carried out a geotechnical site investigation for the development at Landing Drive. The proposed development at the site is approximately 23,500m² of warehouse, cold store, office spaces, carparking and yard. We assessed the subsurface conditions, liquefaction and settlement analysis and provided foundation recommendations.

CEVA Warehouse

Auckland Airport

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants were engaged to carry out a supplementary, project-specific geotechnical site investigation for the CEVA Logistics Ltd warehouse and pavement. Objectives of the investigation were to develop an appropriate geotechnical model of the site development so that geotechnical constraints could be identified and provide recommendations with regard to land stability, consolidation settlement and foundation design and pavement design

Rolleston Christian School

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants were engaged to undertake a geotechnical site investigation for the proposed development of a primary school. The principal objectives of the investigation were to develop an appropriate geotechnical model of the site so that recommendations with regard to foundations could be made. The scope of work at this site ranged from the initial geotechnical investigation to final foundation inspections during construction.

Timberley Road

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants were engaged to undertake a geotechnical site investigation for the proposed commercial subdivision at Timberley Road. Objectives of the investigation were to develop an appropriate geotechnical model of the site so that recommendations with regard to subdivision earthworks can be made and geotechnical constraints to the proposed development be identified.

Countdown Supermarkets

Location:

Various New Zealand locations

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants was engaged to undertake a series of geotechnical assessments for proposed Countdown Supermarkets at various New Zealand locations.

Our geotechnical reports encompassed a series of geotechnical solutions which were unique to each site such as assessments of potential groundwater inflow in the excavations, soil contamination assessments, geotechnical investigations, desktop studies, earthworks and construction monitoring.

New Zealand Cellphone Towers

Various New Zealand locations

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants have undertaken geotechnical investigations for over 200 cellphone towers in various rural and urban New Zealand locations. The purpose of the investigations were to determine the subsurface conditions at the proposed sites and provide recommendations as to the suitability of foundations types for the proposed cellphone towers.

Burger King

Location:

Burger King, Linwood, Christchurch

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants were engaged to undertake a geotechnical site investigation for the proposed development of a Burger King restaurant on the corner of Aldwins Road and Lonwood Ave in Christchurch.

The principal objectives of the investigation were to assess the liquefaction potential at the site and provide remediation recommendations. The scope of work at this site ranged from the initial geotechnical investigation to final foundation inspections during construction.

The Cloak Building

Location:

Te Kaitaka – “The Cloak” Building, Auckland Airport

Overview:

The principal objectives of the investigation were to develop a geotechnical model of the site so that recommendations with regard to foundation design could be made and geotechnical constraints to the proposed development be identified. The Cloak Building has a living green canopy of native plants which sprout from the contoured roof and in 2014 was the winner of;

  • Display Buildings category. WAF (World Architecture Festival) Awards, Singapore, 2014
  • Designers Institute of New Zealand, Gold Award, 2014

The Blues High Performance Training Centre

Location:

223 Greenlane West, Epsom

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants were engaged to undertake a geotechnical site investigation for the proposed high performance training facility for ‘The Blues’ rugby franchise at Alexandra Park, Auckland.

The objectives of our investigations were:

  • To investigate and document soil and ground water conditions.
  • To understand the soil properties within the site, and identify any lateral or vertical variations of the material properties;
  • Assess the potential for onsite stormwater disposal via deep bores in the sub-strata;
  • Present a Geotechnical Report suitable for Resource Consent application

Waterloo Business Park

Location:

Waterloo Business Park, Islington, Christchurch

Overview

Soil & Rock Consultants were engaged to provide monitoring for the bulk earthworks during stage two of the development of the proposed commercial subdivision. This included subgrade and compaction inspections of the roading infrastructure. Soil & Rock Consultants has also completed numerous foundation designs for commercial buildings throughout the subdivision.

Proposed Commercial Development

Location:

124-130 Kilmore Street, Christchurch

Overview:

Soil & Rock Consultants were engaged to undertake an assessment of existing data with the principal objective to provide foundation recommendations for the proposed commercial development. The proposed development at the site consists of three 3 story building each covering an area of 480m2 and connected to each other via an air bridge.

During the construction process qualified Soil & Rock engineers undertook subgrade and compaction inspections of the gravel raft and underlying soil.
